Crowley sets

I was wondering what makes Crowley chanters distinct in style, tone, design, etc, from other chanters. There's a lot of information about Rowsome, Taylor, Coyne pipes, etc, but it is hard to find much information on Crowley chanters.
My interest in this is shamelessly self-indulgent. I play a D chanter made by Michael Hubbert, which is apparently based off an old Crowley chanter that he used to play. I'd appreciate hearing a bit of comparison to other styles from those more knowledgeable.
