Post by PJ »

I'm looking for reed dimensions for a Rogge C nat chanter. Does anyone have suggestions?

From the man himself some years ago.

staple 50 mm O/D 4 mm I/D 3.2

Head 12 mm X 26 mm not incl. of tails.

I have some measures from Fergmaune, but I will let him reply, unless he happens not to.

Best of luck

Hi

my c- reed from Andreas himself is about 80cm of total length, Head wide 12,3mm
scrape length 29.1
tubing staple 4mm outer d.; 3.45mm inner diameter
works very fine for 5 years now, but needs a rush in the Chanter

but more important will be the hardness of the cane, stiffness?, tone chamber and the red thread

That's great. Thank you both.

It seems that Rogge C chanters can take hobby tubing staples. Good to know.

Hi PJ

I still have C reed from December 2008 that came with my Rogge chanter in 2008.

I don't have C reed measurements from Andreas but have measured the C reed.

Head width 11.5mm
Head length 25mm
Scrape length 23mm
Staple Tubing 4mm od/ 5/32"
Staple length 48mm or 50mm
Bridle placement 5mm above binding
Over all length 76mm

If I was making reeds myself
I would start with slip length of 100mm to allow for any trimming of head lips

Head width 11 & 11.5mm
Head length 25mm
Tail length 25mm
Scrape length 25mm
Staple Tubing 4mm od/ 5/32"
Staple length 50mm
Staple eye 1.2mm id
Over all length 79mm.
