A forum about Uilleann (Irish) pipes and the surly people who play them.

fel bautista's right. Good analogy with cycling. I'm a cat. 4, took me 4 years to get my road bike to the ideal setup. Same with pipes. I've wanted to play for years, but am just finally able to afford it. Of course, if I wasn't spending money on one of the most expensive, gear dependant sports ever, I'd probably have the money for a nice full set, AND a new flute! I got started on fiddle because I could get something half decent for $500. That would only be able to get a chanter for that.

I've never seen a thread hijacked so off base but if its bike lichen you want go to the Richard Sachs site. I want one, in oversize steel, with a flat crown and clearance for fat tubulars (25mm or better- I gottem in the garage, kinda like a Willie Rowsome chanter in the attic that your mom told you about);p SIGH

You can take the piper off the bike, but...etc.

Hey Patrick..... spend too much time on that seat and you won't get another erection, ever. Ride standing on those pedals.

Even when unable to relate to a person's problem, it is important to be sympathetic and understanding.......

Seriously OT here. Richard Sachs is one hell of a maker. I'm a "steel is real" believer to. No Litespeed Fel! Italian steel here, and Campy. Course now that I've upgraded this bike, I'm ready for a nice Coppi Foco that I saw with Record!! Yum.

I thought there must be some cyclists on here when Patrick (or whoever) was mentioning the Oude Kwaremont. Hmm....might make for some good tune names, "The Crooked Pave to Dublin", "The Humors of Flanders" or maybe not.

OT-that was me- I think it was in response to a dutch piper liking belgian beer. Colnago Master Light/Record triple cuz my legs don't climb-a like I used to.

Yup-steel is reel- hmmm another name for a tune-later
