I think Finbar Furey recorded a solo piping CD (or maybe he had some accompanying musicians). IIRC it was called Prince of Pipers. It was only released on vinyl.

The one I have is a Japanese import called "The Irish Pipes of Finbar Fury." I bought it from Amazon, but am not sure whether they still stock it.

I'd like to hear a solo effort put out by Pat Sky, um, if there already isn't one.

Louise, Louise, Louise, Louise!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paddy Maloney, etc. etc. etc. :-)
I would like to hear Tomás Ó Canainn by himself; perhaps his own compositions and some of his poetry? It'd be nice to preserve ....
Benedict Koehler
Does Mickey Dunne have a CD?

That's all I know for now.

Tomas- yes that 's a good choice and is probably one of those we need to hear more of now. And Mickey does have a CD, Legacy, by the Dunne Family

Hey! Thank you guys! I had the distinct pleasure of playing flute in a few sessions with Tomás when he was here for a friend's wedding several years ago, and the man is a treasure. In addition to heartbreaking poetry, he writes a mean polka :-)

And Mickey Dunne -- I don't know; I've heard him twice and about fainted both times. There's just something about his playing and the fact he seems to be having such a good time ...

Two fellows whose love of music really comes through in their music. Thanks again for the help!

I had two different Finbar Furey vinyl albums from the late 60's or early 70's. Each had unaccompanied tracks and tracks marred by inept guitar playing.
Finbar's piping is simply fantastic and I'm amazed at how many Irish people are only aware of Finbar as a singer/string player.
Several years ago I came across a CD which had all the unaccompanied tracks from those two old albums combined on one CD, but like an eejit I didn't buy it.

Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

Those are the albums that got me into this whole bloody mess :o

I heard that first D of The Spanish Cloak and I was hooked for a lifetime.

And what about Furey´s version of The Fox Chase? For me, the best of all. Really good piper.

I forgot before, I wish -like many of you- Paddy Moloney released a solo album...

Hello all, Im new to the website.

I was poking about here, and I believe Paddy Moloney does have a few tunes out solely by him on "the drones and the chanters" cd, although it might only be one track. I've had a devil of a time tracking that cd down, and still cant find it.
