OT: Why my Ebay Account is Suspended

Post by ausdag »

Hi all,

I don't know why, but I've recieved a number of these emails apparently from EBay telling me that my account has been suspended.

I don't know why, because I never use it. The only thing I've done lately is to track three items to see how they faired in bidding.

Any ideas???

Here's the message -

Dear Customer,

We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the eBay community.

Per the User Agreement, Section 9, we may immediately issue a warning, temporarily suspend, indefinitely suspend or terminate your membership and refuse to provide our services to you if we believe that your actions may cause financial loss or legal liability for you, our users or us. We may also take these actions if we are unable to verify or authenticate any information you provide to us.

Please note that any seller fees due to eBay will immediately become due and payable. eBay will charge any amounts you have not previously disputed to the billing method currently on file.

To activate your suspended eBay account please complete the form located at:

http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.p ... UsingSSL=1

Regards,
Safeharbor Department
eBay, Inc.

Cheers,

DavidG

Contact eBay through another address or link and ask them what is up. Failing that David, stop trying to con people out of their eBay dollars by trying to sell already sold Fromment four regulator concert pitched pipes... :D :D :D

... sorry, couldn't resist....

Agreed, smells like a scam.

David do you have the ability to view the header of that message? Chances are it's spoofed and didn't emanate from eBay.
Joseph's right, DON'T follow the link on the email, rather go directly to eBay and sort things out there.

not just smells like...it is...report it to spoof@ebay.com by forwarding the whole thing along with the headers and they will pursue legal action and have the site removed.

Whenever I get weird emails like this I do a Web search for some of the text; they invariably turn out to be scams, you get plenty of hits for sites dealing with this sort of malarkey.

Hey guys,
Maybe the scam is on us :o David has posted the whole message including the link (probably in the hope that we'll click on it and unleash a 'Trojan' virus or never ending spams!!!). I reckon David preys on discussion forums, trying to infect its users computers with viruses. I'll bet that David's next post will be a link ebay, supposedly for us to check out a Geoff Woof full set selling for $50!

Watch it David (if that's your real name) - we've got our eyes on you :really: :D
We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all manage to live in the same box.

What gave it away for me was that I got the email at a different address from the one I am registered with eBay.

Cheers,

Ebay's emails always address the customer by their eBay name. Anything you get addressed to Dear Customer is a scam.

Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

Click on the link and you will get a 404 error.

No doubt it's 101% scam-a-licious.
