FS: Seth Gallagher 3/4ths set (left-handed)

Post by Torrin Riáin »

For Sale: Seth Gallagher 3/4ths set. Left-handed.

I have a Seth Gallagher 3/4ths set for sale made in a left-handed configuration. Made out of ebony, brass, and imitation ivory. Refurbished by myself.

These are an earlier set of Seth’s, made in 1998. Serial No. 68. Seth’s earlier chanters were based on a different Rowsome design than his later stuff. Most of the people that I know who play or have played Seth’s stuff tend to prefer these earlier models, for what it’s worth.

The regulators have the original phosphor bronze reeds in them which I barely had to touch even though they’re probably over 25 years old. They tuned up quite nicely and I believe that they will be maintenance free for the next 25.

There are cane reeds in the baritone and tenor, and an ezee in the bass. The other two ezees are gonna be included, too. I’ve added some restrictions at the end of the slides and inside the mainstock cup to get them to play just right. I’m pleased with their stability, and they have a bold, strong sound to them that blends nicely to the chanter + regulators.

The chanter has no keys and is fitted with what I believe to be the original cane reed. I’ve got it playing quite nicely, in-tune, and at an appropriate pressure for both octaves. Nicely behaved, good tonality, and it does what I’d want and expect it to do.

Very airtight Gallagher bellows and a nice L&M bag.

I’m selling this on behalf of the family of a piper whom recently passed.

I’m asking for $5,800 for these pipes. Buyer pays shipping. I’m located in Massachusetts, USA. Any questions at all, feel free to ask me! PM or email: Torrin.R (@) gmail
