Vivaldi: Concerto for "flautino" in C major, RV 443
-It is all settled beneath the chatter and the noise. The silence and the feeling. The excitement and fear. The sparse, erratic flashes of beauty. And then the wretched squalor and the miserable man. All buried by the blanket of the embarrassment of being in the world.- (Jep Gambardella)

I don't think I've seen any other recorder player puff into the mouthpiece in quite the way she does.
Here's another performance of the same piece (a favorite of mine) just a few weeks ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOyw6c9D4EM. The tempo isn't quite as brisk, but I like it.

Yes, it's her way of articulating those detached notes at the beginning with a very soft attack, as if marked both staccato and tenuto. I've seen it before.ubizmo wrote:I don't think I've seen any other recorder player puff into the mouthpiece in quite the way she does.
