Tell us something.: I can play concert flute, shakuhachi, and even a flute with a saxophone mouthpiece.

But I do have a lot of trouble with playing recorder, and with playing an ocarina. The notes wander, and I do not find the same degree of control and expression as with non-fipple flutes. I am interested in trying a low D penny whistle (because I like the sound). But I do not know if I would have the same trouble that I have with a recorder, and I would like to join a related discussion.

I also like the sound of Native American flutes, but they are also fipple instruments.

I have a bamboo shakuhachi that I have had since the early 1970's. I have always oiled it with Selmer bore oil 2935.

I am running out of that oil, and it is made no more.

What modern bore oils are compatible with Selmer Bore Oil 2935?

What is Selmer Bore Oil 2935 made of?
