Tell us something.: Just discovered your website today as I was searching for info on an old musical instrument I own. Hoping someone can help me identify the instrument and determine its date of manufacture and value. Thank you!

Need help identifying an old instrument

Post by LuAnn B »

I have a child's instrument which belonged to my mother who played it in grade school in the late 1930s. It is in a cardboard tube with a book of music designated for a clarolet, a fluteolet, or a fife. It is approx 14" long, metal, 6 holes with a bell end. I am interested in determining its manufacturer (no imprints on instrument or container), age, value, rarity, etc. A Google search has not been helpful with this one! I did find a thread on this forum from 10+ years ago which leads me to believe it is indeed a fluteolet. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.
