Tell us something.: I have been a flute player since the 1970s and since then I have accumulated many types of flutes from around the world. I also make some of my own flutes and I am still learning. Recently Arabic flutes are very interesting to me, especially the ney. I hope being a member will bring me to a better understanding of flutes and a place where I can share my own accumulated knowledge.

Purchasing a Persian Ney

Post by brennacorbit »

Does anyone know where to purchase a well-made Persian ney? I have been making several out of furniture grade PVC according to some really good online instruction, but I have come to the point of wanting to purchase one made from reed. There are a few sellers online, but I do not know what is good and what is bad. I would prefer buying one directly from the craftsman. Thank you.

Tell us something.: I'm interested in traditional music from western Europe, especially Irish Traditional Music. I play and make simple system flutes, whistles and Uilleann pipes, and occasionally dabble with other instruments, such as harp, banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, concertina, accordion etc. I'd like to become a better musician.

Thank you for replying. I have contacted him last spring and he gave me a price, to which I agreed. However, he never got back to me after a few tries.
