Today's Spam Posting

Post by Casey Burns »

Got another one of these syntaxially amusing spam messages. In this one, they are actually asking about ordering a quantity of flutes, instead of "products from your store". Still not enough to fool anyone except the most gullible. Note that it was sent to "undisclosed-recipients". So I wonder what other flute makers got this one.
Begin forwarded message:
From: Kelly Williams <wkelly210@gmail.com>

Subject: flutes purchase

Good Day,
I am Mr. Kelly Williams and I want to purchase an flutes at your shop. I would be pleased to know the price quotations for those you have in stock so that I can quote the quantity I want and when they could be available for pick up after purchasing since the products (flutes) would be picked up at your end.

Moreover I want to know the mode of payment you do accept for payment since it will be much convenient for me to make payment using my valid credit.

Your advice is welcome

Best regards

I appreciate Mr. Williams' keen understanding of the vernacular by which is made the distinction that the singular "a flute" is separate from the plural "an flutes." Many fail to recognize that difference.

Ditto. Could he be using Jem's convenient list of makers?

I suspect he may be disappointed by the response to his kind offer!

Yes, got that here too. I'm not on Jem's list but I am on Brad Hurley's list, so they could be using that one.

I got an email yesterday from bagpipe makers in Glasgow about blackwood billets they have for sale. I suppose others got that one as well? Seemed genuine from the details given. The fact that the person described himself as "Production Director" did raise my suspicions.

Didn't know I was so useful!

I'll be updating it The List fairly soon, I hope. Garry's website is on my list of pending additions and amendments.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Anyone else wondering if it wasn't Jem who sent that email to Casey?

I'm such a poor maker, that I don't even get spams asking for flutes... :swear:

No, you're just in the "No active link" category. If you want some spam you gotta get your name out there....

Best wishes.

Just remember Jem is trying to keep at least one hand on the steering wheel of a taxi while posting on C&F. ;)

Got to be at least as dangerous as working up close to the spinning chuck of a lathe.
