Tunesofwood Flutes - Has anyone played one?
Tunesofwood Flutes - Has anyone played one?
I've seen these on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200665375437?ss ... 1423.l2649
It looks a little funky, but how it plays is what's important. The feedback seems fine. Anyone have one or tried one?

No, never heard of them and a little searching doesn't provide anything much about who or what these folks are about.
I'd say there is a very high chance you are going get a piece of junk. FLO IMHO.
I'll tell you one thing. It's NOT cocus. Not even close.
Don't waste your cash.

Nope, but I might give it a go if it popped out of a cereal packet or Christmas cracker!khal wrote:Anyone have one or tried one?

Bit of a truth-in-advertising issue, isn't there. That tells me plenty enough.Aanvil wrote:I'll tell you one thing. It's NOT cocus. Not even close.
Still, there's some harmless entertainment value in the ad so long as you don't lay down any cash. I like how the blurb sez:
If they're not really lathes, what are they? Maybe hand-cranked bicycle wheels?produced by the hand made techniques on traditional wood turning "lathes"

Dunno, but how can you go wrong with 'perfect D tone @ 440HZ traditional pitch', 'Pre balanced Inner Bore' and 'Perfect and computerized balanced Oval embouchure hole'?Nanohedron wrote:If they're not really lathes, what are they? Maybe hand-cranked bicycle wheels?
The answer of course being very easily...

Yes, I found the "lathes" bit funny!
I guess that makes it a "flute" then.

And there you go.Dominic Allan wrote:Yes, I found the "lathes" bit funny!

Agh. It hurts. But what is a pre-balanced inner bore? And surely "inner bore" cannot be a tautology. No, there are high-level professional trade secrets at work, here.Peter Duggan wrote:...how can you go wrong with 'perfect D tone @ 440HZ traditional pitch', 'Pre balanced Inner Bore' and 'Perfect and computerized balanced Oval embouchure hole'?

On a positive note, it comes with finger instructions.

Dunno (again), but it all rather reminds me of the pseudo-technical mumbo-jumbo used to sell 'anti-ageing' cosmetics to the gullible!Nanohedron wrote:But what is a pre-balanced inner bore?

If the total length (not sounding length) is 58 cm as they say, it's very unlikely that it will play at A=440 hz

But this plays a D @ 440, so that makes it OK.Othannen wrote:If the total length (not sounding length) is 58 cm as they say, it's very unlikely that it will play at A=440 hz

Yeah. Ballpark figure. That's pretty "traditional".Jäger wrote:But this plays a D @ 440, so that makes it OK.Othannen wrote:If the total length (not sounding length) is 58 cm as they say, it's very unlikely that it will play at A=440 hz

Re: Tunesofwood Flutes - Has anyone played one?
Well, quite "traditional" to say the least. As "traditional" as you get when working with a "lathe". Not to mention that the balanced inner bore is oiled with moisture resistance. And comes with FREE STUFF.Nanohedron wrote:Yeah. Ballpark figure.
