Hello,

I'm selling a flute for a friend. It's an older Hammy, probably made in the 80s. It's rudall-based design, still quite loud and honky but also very light and easy to fill. It has a strong d. There is a little repaired crack in the barrel, but apart from that it's fine and it has passed the test of time. It has four keys: C, G# and 2xF (long and short). There's also a block for a Bb key if you wish to add one.

I am looking for 1500 EUR. This is a pre-Ebay offer. I'd prefer to sell it to members of this community rather than ebay it. Offers welcome!

There are quite a lot of good players in Germany

I've never seen a Hammy rudall. Anybody else play one? How is the fingering?
I confess I find his pratten a bit of a handful. Do these sound like rudalls,
if I may ask that question. Or something 'beefier' in the bottom octave?

I'm not too sure about the rudall Hammy thing. The man himself is a member here, so maybe he could correct me if I'm wrong (and if he gets to read this message). 
AFAIK, Hammy used to offer rudalls till some time in the 90s. He then discontinued making them in favour of his pratten based design. This particular flute was made some time in the 80s and I think Dublin's flute player Fiach O'Brian was somehow involved in it. Have to ask the seller again. Will clarify on that and post some pictures soon. 

Anyway, while this flute is certainly not very much like Hammy's current models, it has a good volume, but it's also very light and rudallish. Typical rudall d. Definitively some beef in the lower octave. The flute reminds me of the Murrays I've tried, but again, the maker might disagree with me on this...

I also e-mailed the seller: she ordered the flute directly from you and got it in 1988, so maybe it was the last rudall you ever made! I played it again today, and I have to say I'd love to see you making those again! I hope nobody buys this one for a while so I can keep it longer...

Actually, in the above image, you can see that the Bb hole is already there, but filled airtightly. So if you wish to retrofit a key, all you need is the key And drill a small hole for the pin.








The barrel. The crack is visible, but it is repaired and completely airtight.
