Olwell flute on ebay

Post by Liney Bear »

Not mine, but these usually garner some well deserved attention. Note that the seller's feedback rating is 0.

The first bidder also has a zero rating. Serves the seller right. Some sellers won't accept bids from someone without some ebay history. This first bid may be a shill, just to get things started, even though that is supposed to be illegal on ebay.

Isn't it possible that he never sold anything or the customers he had sold to didn't care to send any feedback even if the service was good?

Did anyone contact the seller?

Anyone else notice that the head seems to be fully lined in the first pic and partially un-lined in the last pic? Might just be an optical illusion though.

Yes but the grain in the oaking flooring is identical, including the mar in the finish. Maybe there are two headjoints. Heh.

Howdy all,

If anyone happens to have an Olwell 'C' section (in either blackwood or cocus) which they are not using so much and would be willing to sell to me, please send me a Private Message.

Cheers,
Fionnbarra.

Yes, I have sent a question to the seller and received a timely reply.

Tell us something.: I play flute, whistle and harp and have been a member on this board for many years. I have tended to be a lurker recently and just posted a response for the first time in quite awhile.

Well, the seller's profile says member since 09/28/2005. Obviously NOT an active e-Bayer, at least as far as items sold or won! My husband has been a member for longer than that without a single transaction under his name. If he wants something, I bid for him under my account. This seller does have 3 other items up for sale and no other "0" transaction bidders. None of them are flutes.

For the moment I'm just worried if it's a fraud or not and I'll just stop eating my nails when it arrives safe.

I don’t think my opinion would be of any worth, I have been playing for just around 2 years and would add probably subjective comments, limited by my lousy level. I’m getting rid of the Hammy to pay the Olwell (actually I’m still indebted because of the Lehart too  ) and because I can’t keep it well in tune(mostly the F# and bottom D), probably because of my poor embouchure, though I’m very satisfied with the Lehart. I hate to collect things and just tend to keep the things I’m going to use and it seems the Hammy wasn’t for me(at least not at my present level)…
