Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

Tenon Wax

What do you use to restick your tenon thread when it gets bed hair?

The material suggested by the maker of the flute has to be bought in such large quantities it would last 10 people 4 lifetimes!!!! :o

Sounds like you've been talking to Casey Burns!!

Ordinary cork grease from your ordinary music store works pretty well. So does Burt's Bees lip balm and it's cheaper.

To quote Flutemaker Clive Catterall:
Thread Grease

There are many greases that can be used, petroleum jelly, lanolin, proprietary cork grease, but I use a grease I make myself from equal weights of beeswax and almond oil.
I'm using the beeswax and almond oil mix, but that's primarily because I like to mess with stuff. :D One thing to be aware of with this mix. You need to do it by weight. If you guess at it, it'll take forever to get the mix right. I melt the beeswax in the microwave and stir the almond oil in.

Along the same lines, I use beeswax with petroleum jelly.

I bought the toilet wax ring, and there wasn't really all that much of it. It's lasted about three years, but it's running low now.
