Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

YouTube video Playlist of my recent gig at Ty Gwerin, Denbigh National Eisteddfod 8:8:2013 - 10 clips, of which 7 on assorted flutes (3 on pibgorn!), all material Welsh trad. Full info on each set/clip on YouTube - click "show more"!

Any feedback much appreciated.

Excuses got in first - I had done a moderate amount of prep on my own (not enough! and it shows....) but Danny on guitar had had just one play through the previous evening, so was fairly much busking it.
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!

Here's a short clip of my recent purchase: an antique 6 keyed boxwood flute in Eb. I am trying to get it hydrated...

Nice clip, did you buy the flute from deathbyflute? With the nice long short f nat?

Where is the tune from?

I learned the tune from the playing of Rose Clancy, though with my own take. Think it was written by her uncle? I don't recall the name of the person I purchased it from, though it was from eBay, listed under Eb Boxwood....

Patrick MacCubbin, a session player from Baltimore, MD, sent me two mp3 files of him playing my flutes. For the reels he is playing my low D flute with the standard headjoint without the lip plate. For the two jigs he is playing a low C flute with the standard headjoint, again without the lip plate.

This is a G major version of the common tune, I've seen it in O'Neill's 1001 in this key and what I'm playing here borrows some stuff from a Paddy Canny recording too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SN4M7Lc ... Qf_6ben0bw

Thought I'd share it, it comes up often with a certain circle of friends I play with.
