Re: Posting clips
I got a fife/piccolo made by Dave Angus about five months ago and have been trying to play well enough that I can get a couple clips up, since there aren't that many of his instruments up here. Coming from the whistle, the embouchure was the toughest part, although I think I'm coming to grips with it. I have to work on getting my intonation more exact among many other things, but that's what practicing is for. So here's me playing the Ookpik Waltz:

and Cronin's Hornpipe:

Feedback would be much appreciated. And I have to say, I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of this instrument. At first I thought it would be a lark, now I'm getting into whole flute thing and am hoping to get a regular D flute soon. So thumbs up to Mr. Angus.

More B flattery: Welsh hornpipe Mympwy Portheinon (a version of/related to the English The Grand Hornpipe) "arranged" by myself and double-track recorded using Audacity, played on my R&R low Bb flute. Dots are here.

"The Butterfly" - Matt Molloy / "Chieftains" & James Galway

Lovely solo start by Matt Molloy. They also change the tempo from 9/8 to 12/8. Interesting arrangement.

Re: Posting clips
I really like this one - I've been trying to learn this (The Snows They Melt the Soonest) from your clip, and from a few videos I've found on YouTube of people singing this song.ImNotIrish wrote:Here's a slow air on the Eb boxwood flute.

Re: Posting clips
I've only been playing my D flute for about three weeks now and would appreciate some constructive feedback, I know my breathing isn't ideal atm but I'm working on it thanks to some great advice received from forum members. I believe it's called Sean Ryan's Hornpipe, not sure what the last tune is, its sounds a bit like "John Brown's Body"

Very strong playing. Only weakness seemed the low D, but that'll come with more time. Well done.
