Keyless wooden flutes in higher keys
Besides barna gabos which is an amazing maker. Is there anyone else making keyless wooden flutes in keys like alto G, f, etc?

- Tell us something.: I play lots of instruments including several wind instruments like recorder and Native American flutes. I'm looking to expand my horizons and learn more about whistles, especially wooden ones.

- Tell us something.: I have a keen interest in wooden flutes (modern and antique), early music (Renaissance, Baroque), Romantic music and Irish Traditional Music of course! I also play the clarinet (my first instrument) and I've also started learning the cittern.

Dave Copley, John Gallagher and Tom Aebi all make F flutes. Gilles Léhart makes F and G flutes.
Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.

Thanks for all the replies with the options, is there any preference you would recommend from all the choices for an F?

Eamonn Cotter does a nice range of flutes from Bb up to (at least) F.

- Tell us something.: I enjoy playing flutes & whistles. C&F is a great place to learn more about both. It is interesting to find out more about makers, history, techniques and making music with these instruments.

Re: Keyless wooden flutes in higher keys
John Gallagher's F flutes are amazing. I've never played one better. (That's not saying a *ton* as I've only played a handful).
Re: Keyless wooden flutes in higher keys
He no longer makes them and Patrick Olwell's cane flutes come in various keys (like G, A, Bb) and one might ask if anyone has one s/he wants to sell. They are very good.

Re: Keyless wooden flutes in higher keys
I got a nice boxwood F from Tony Millyard, I was just chatting to him and he had one in stock. I am very happy with it, he is also an excellent guy to deal with very good communications. If you want to spend a bit more and can wait 9-10 months, I'd suggest a Jill Lehart,

Pat.

I remember seeing a few listed on the IrishFluteStore last I checked (including Barna Gabos).
