Yeah, that sounds like it ticks all the right boxes, Pat. Smooth, airtight and non-absorbing. And inedible. I've come across quite a few old flutes over the years where silverfish have eaten out the pads! One imagines these should have a good long life.

Hi Pat,
Can I trouble you to know the type of silicone and the material of the tube wall that you set the key into that you are using? I have a lovely, new-to-me 11 key, crack-free, NACH Meyer (HP) that plays A=440HZ with good intonation and a booming low D. I’d really like to pad the keys using your method and get rid of the tack-um. Thanks in advance. ~JDL
