! ! ! ! !

7 sentences, 5 !s..... Mmmm. :really: I must cut back......

Anyway, that's only a 71.43% hit-rate - yours in your last-but-one post (even allowing for ironic intent and the possibility the 2nd should be a "?"....) is 100%.

But I'd say "emphatic" rather than "excitable" - it was late, I was tired and rushing......

Enough of this nonsense.... the OP has a flute to sell!

The one-piece heartjoint strongly suggests it isn't a Rudall. If CW makes Prattens and Rudalls,
it's likely a Pratten. Finding out may help your sale.

Jim, it's not a one-piece headjoint. It's just been put into the case with the barrel attached top the body instead of to the headjoint. Chris doesn't make one-piece headjoints, to my knowledge.

Jim, it's not a one-piece headjoint
Probably meant that it has a one piece body joint, and that would indicate that it is more likely a Pratten style flute than a Rudall. Of course the bore profile and tonehole sizes are more indicative/critical, but according to Chris's site, the flute offered by the OP is most likely a Pratten due to the one piece body. Kind of immaterial I would guess, as anyone who is looking to put down $3,700+ for a simple system flute will likely know the difference on first sight.

Sweet looking flute in any event, with all that engine turning on the silver fittings. I see it is currently located in my neck of the woods. Way out of my league, but if it doesn't sell right away perhaps I can visit it... :D

I do apologise - it's my eyes, you know. "Heartjoint" is what Jim said, isn't it? Not headjoint. I'm just not used to the body being called that. Sorry Jim. I'm off to have another look now ...

Right. I've been and looked. That looks like one of Chris' standard keyless flutes to me. I've seen a load in his workshop that he described something like "well, I call these Rudall types, but they're not really". AFAIK, Chris' keyless flutes always have one-piece bodies. They're also, again, AFAIK, always blackwood rather than cocus, which this one looks to be as well. I think that Chris himself much prefers Rudall type flutes to Pratten types.

Not sure if any of that lot helps, really ...

I think it'd be safe to say "Pratten lookin" anyway.
In any case i wouldn't pay the equivalent of three Murray keyless for this one, but on the other hand nobody asked me.. ;)

Well, FWIW, the site says CW's rudall style flutes have four sections
and the pratten style flutes three sections. Which suggests that this is
one of the prattens.

Yes, it seems a lot of money. But maybe somebody is rolling in money.

Wow! £2,280 for a keyless - so how much does that make my Wilkes 8 key cocus worth??
