There's aytin' and dhrinkin' in it.
I like his duet record with Robin Morton, too.

But my #1 answer to this question is the Paddy Carty LP. Oh, and Music at Matt Molloy's if that qualifies.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Two things getting loads of play on my Spotify are Colm O Donnell Farewell to the Evening Dances and Catherine McCevoy and co.
Comb Your Hair and Curl It. Also the Comhaltas Archive tracks of John Brady and Larry Mcdonagh just search flute and you'll be inundated with tracks of players you may only of heard of but not really heard. I like Seamus Macmathuna's style did he ever do a recording?

Now, I dearly love this record, but I detect nascent frills.

Well Rob, since they're only nascent frills...I'm OK with that.

Glad somebody mentioned Harry Bradley. A terrific player and a smart, warm man with a great sense of humor.
Thanks Kenny.

Argh, so many! I forgot all about those, and Harry's record with Michael Clarkson, too. That one's a humdinger. And speaking of Northern favorites, Laurence Nugent's first one is grand as well.

Hello, I'm new to the form, reading it for a while but its my first post. My name is Peter and I'm a learner on flute for nearly a year now.

My favourite albums are all the CD's by Harry Bradley, "The thing itself" by Peter O'Loughlin and Maeve Donnely. I also like the playing (and recordings) of Catherine McEvoy, John Wynne, Marcas O'Murchu and Conal O'Grada.

For non-flute : Tim Collins Dancing on silver

I love threads like this because I always learn from fellow-chiffers about things I need to check out. That's why I am bumping it. Two of my favorites have already been mentioned:

Cnoc Bui / Conal O'Grada
Bad Turns And Horseshoe Bends / Harry Bradley.

I confess, though, that sometimes I listen to the discs from June McCormick's tutorials from beginning to end (skipping the ornamentation samples at the very beginning). I find her playing, slow or fast, to be simply lovely of its kind. I realize these discs don't really count as albums, but you can't get much more no-frills!

I don't know whether or not this has been mentioned here before, but having just purchased an iPod Touch, and having been raking through the iTunes store for the first time, it would appear that Harry Bradley's "Bad Turns And Horseshoe Bends" can be downloaded from there. The original CD was on the "Outlet" label from Belfast, but they went bust not long after "Bad Turns..." was released. [ I do not believe the 2 events were connected :) ] What this meant was that Harry's first CD is now extremely difficult to get hold of - I haven't seen one on eBay for nearly 2 years now, so if you've been looking for it in vain up until now, that's the way to go. Every home should have one.
