SORRY!

Post by Sillydill »

Hey Aanvil,

The bottom D was strong with the Burns Rudall headjoint! But I don't tend to really honk the bottom D.

You might check the seal on the bottom tennon. I enclosed extra official Burns waxed thread for just such a purpose.

If this body & foot displease you, I'll offer a refund (less postage). :)

Good luck and hope you can get to the root of the problem!
Keep on Tootin!

I guess if you tried different heads and got the same result..ID should be out... What about the socket depth into the barrel ? A big gap there might do it ?? (ie multimode) ......or a big mismatch w/ no gap at all for that matter ...

Hey Jordan and Jack,

Its very well be any number of combos.

I have a few other barrels that will fit. and other heads.

The one I was using didn't gap and I did look at inner dia.

I'll have to try a different size and continue the experiment.

Thanx for the thread Jordan! That was a nice touch.

I don't think I'll need to send it back.

I intended this to be a tinkering project.

I'm sure there is a solution.

I'm interested in what Casey has to say.

Yes, yes !

That is a very generous offer by Casey and it most likely will come to that as the real value is on having a bona fide complete Burns but I'm not only a "how" but a "why" kind of person.

I, like some here, have a keen interest in the engineering and physics of flute construction.

These hands on experiments are fun for me.

Nice thing is usually I'm dealing with flutes where I don't have access to the maker other than though a Ouija board.

That's really Wylde, Aanvil! So to whom have you access by Ouija? Or are you just loosing your head as well as the flute's???? :D
