Rudall & Rose for sale on ebay

Post by evangeline »

I'm selling my beloved Rudall & Rose boxwood, 7 keyed flute on ebay, that I've had for 25 years. It's an early flute, #1984. A beauty. I haven't been playing it, and I need the funds to pay for a new keyed flute that's in the works for me. Please check out my sale, and if you can give it a good home, please bid! Thanks so much.

I have a keyless Olwell blackwood flute, that I take everywhere and play. The Rudall and Rose, well, I think I'm too in awe of it. I'm afraid of temperature changes, accidents, et. al. I know it's silly, I should just play the flute. But instead I'm getting a keyed Olwell. In order to pay for it, I'm parting with the Rudall. A tough decision, I can tell you. But there it is.

Excellent. The A is a bit sharp, but can easily be managed. Right now the pads need work, but it still is a beautiful player.

I love the horn -- what do we call them? "Ferrulettes"? -- at the joints.

What a beautiful instrument!

What's going to happen with the keyless after you get the keyed Olwell? :)

Thanks, Cathy! It is beautiful! I'm going to miss it terribly...

Trip- that's a good question about my keyless Olwell. I haven't decided. I may be selling that eventually. Is that something you'd be interested in? It's small holed, blackwood. Well played, well loved. Gorgeous flute.

Do you remember who made the new headjoint? David Shorey was the curator of the Dayton Miller collection back in the '70s and I know his wife Nina does repair work for him but I didn't think she made headjoints...

Yes, indeed. It was Michael Seifret, David Shorey's successor.
