Flute Art

Post by Doug_Tipple »

Too many people were making fun of my avatar with my photo, so I decided to do something about it. I commissioned Rob Adams (Treeshark) in London to draw a dancing (clogging) flute man for me. I told him what I wanted, and he obliged my request with the image below. The only problem is that this little guy doesn't have a name yet, so I decided to ask the most savy group of flute connoisseurs in the world (here on the flute forum, of course) for some help. Does anyone have any ideas? I am also interested in other examples of flute art.

He looks a lot like Planter's Mr. Peanut. I'd call him Jimmy Carter. :D

How about

"Omicron the magnificent, Destroyer of worlds , Blight of the galaxy, Eternal cause of disorder"

Although I think he looks more like a Mjolnir.

When you get a list of names you should have a poll.

No! No! He's a flute not a fife or a piccolo....

Oh...

I guess Fred or Frank the Flute would be good names then.

Who drew the old avatar? I thought that was pretty cute.

How about "six-time colostomy veteran bravely faces life with new tracheostomy"

Sorry. That's the anatomical modelmaker in me speaking. . Treeshark, great graphic, do you work in art in London?

Hi Rosemary,
Unfortunately, no one drew the old avatar image. It was a photo, and that was the problem. Ha! (Andrew, are verbal exclamations OK?)

However, the avatar size limitation of 100 x 100 pixels makes everyone and everthing look a little pixelated, but I suppose that is better than looking inebriated, but without the accompanying benefits.

Tell us something.: You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Hmm, I dispatched the original Omicron last week, so I guess, technically speaking, the name is currently available.

Hmm, I agree it looks like Mr. Peanut.

It also looks like a cross between a flue and a grasshopper, so-

FluteHopper

...or Flopper! But, that isn't very complimentary.

How about 'Tootie Flutie'? If you're old enough, it might ring a bell!

Or, since it was made for you, Doug, he could be 'Tipple-Tooter'!

An historic figure; 'Tutus Brutus'! Et tu?

 Maybe, Art de Flute?
