Teaser for Patrick Olwell documentary

Post by jemmoore »

It's been a while since we reached our Kickstarter goal, but we're starting to get some great footage. Next up is a trip to Patrick's workshop in a couple of weeks for several days of filming. Check out this teaser of our trip to Oregon this past week, and let me know what you think...Jem

What's the instrument that looks like a tin topped banjo?
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

I believe that was a Resonator or Resophonic] Guitar. Mad famous by The NationalGuitar Co. Sometimes called a Dobro.

Since you asked for feedback, actually, in a little less than two minutes I saw more than I wanted of the guy with the black hat. I hope that the real documentary does not follow suit. I enjoyed the scenes of driving through the beautiful Oregon countryside, though.

Yep Doug, me too! Most of that footage is just me fooling around with my DSLR. The "real" footage will keep that knucklehead with the hat out more! That was just more of a video blog deal...

Good, I feel relieved. While I do enjoy some travel logs where the presenter is pictured repeatedly throughout the film, my preference for most films/videos is that the cinematographer and director are largely unseen and the focus is on the subject of the film, in this case, Patrick Olwell, his flutes, and those talking about or playing his flutes.

That is NOT a resonator guitar or dobro. It looks more like actually a resonator banjo, (yes, they do exist) There's even resonator mandolins!
