It's been about a month since it arrived, but it still feels like Christmas morning to me.

It's a McGee 6-key blackwood Rudall Perfected. Pristine, just as David Migoya promised, and housed it a magnificent birdseye maple box.

BTW, it easily doubles as Crooked's retirement gift to self!

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

I think the season is getting too much for me. I just came back to this thread ... and managed to misread the title as "Holy Acquisitions!!!" As in, "Holy Acquisitions, Batman!!!"

I've been avoiding the discussion, I thought it read, "Holiday Accusations...."

Isn't the origin of the word "holiday" from "holy-days"? (too tired to do the research...)

Well now that Philip K. has announced the sale I can say that I am the new owner of his keyless Burns large holed standard flute. He informed me late on Christmas Eve (Pacific Time) that the flute was on its way. Which means it shipped on Christmas Day, and it's still Hanukkah, so I guess this can be considered a holiday acquisition, even though I won't be seeing it for awhile (considering that the flute has to cross two oceans and a rather large continent to get here). The flute will now reside just a few miles from its birthplace in Casey's shop.

Happy Holidays to all!

A day late as the grand-kids arrived last night....

Got volumes 1-3 of The Wooden Flute Obsession CD series. Lots of serious listening (and probably follow-up buying) to come.

Best wishes.

I have a pair of Terry McGee instruments that I am very happy with and so I have not been tempted by another flute. But I am interested in Scottish music and found myself a practice set of border pipes made by Denny Hall. They arrived Christmas. I understand Casey Burns used to work with Denny. Maybe Casey remembers something about the pipes.

Denny and I are good friends - but we have never worked together. Talked shop a bunch though.

My wife bought me Calum Stewart & Heikki Bourgault's CD. An amazing album. It's been on since it got here. Thanks to Calum and Heikki.
