Sam Murray flute for sale

Post by piobaire mor »

Hi, This flute was for sale before but the sale didn't go through so I decided to keep the flute as it's a cracker but I now have to sell it.
It is a Sam Murray keyless D flute in blackwood. Great tone, great tuning and comes with box. It would be hard to find a better Sam Murray flute. I think the flute was made in 2005 but I'm not sure. I bought it from a friend.

Price: 900 euro plus shipping

You are aware that your price is €125 more than a new one..?

There is, as I recall, a tradition here that we don't second guess prices of flutes posted for sale on the board.
(e bay flutes listed by strangers seem to be an exception, however.) Also a flute that is hard to
come by, waiting list, or an especially good one of a kind understandably justifies a higher price.

Curious: is the headjoint fully lined?

You got any photos to show the flute?
They don't show in your original post,
and the video shows just your tummy.

Sorry, my bad. I think there's been loads of discussion concerning lots of sales here from what i've seen during the time i have been a member here.
Anyway, fair play to seller and prospective buyer.

you can not link to pictures in your email...

The pictures need to be hosted somewhere on the web that allows you to point at them from here.

No blame. Flutes began being sold for more than list on this board a good number of years ago. Naturally this was questioned
and mods responded then, and it has generally been our practice, to accept that people can charge what they want
in such postings. Charging more than list happens a fair amount on this board, in fact.
It is a better way to go, it turns out, to just accept it. As mentioned,
e bay listings by strangers are fair game, however, e.g. 'this is way too high a price even for a Rudall.'

The official Price Policing announcement is here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=55556

Jim's description is basically correct, that the policy applies to offers made here on the Chiffboard, or by members of the Chiffboard.

There's some grey area. Simply asking about a price or pointing out a different price is probably OK. Accusations and recriminations are not. Of course, if a seller wants to volunteer an explanation for their asking price, that's fine, too.

That's a great flute, a very fine example of the maker's talents (played it on several happy occasions)... and far superior to a lot of instruments selling for more than 900 Euro IMO.

Regards,

Harry.

Was in Sam's workshop yesterday. Sam's flutes are well worth 900 euros. Sam is a national treasure.
