Walsh Shuttle Pipes

What are the opinions of the Walsh Shuttle Pipes? They seem to get some bad reviews from players.

There is a duo named “Polytropos” Oscar West and Rennie Pearsons, They play a number of different instruments, among them, Oscar plays Walsh small pipes on some of their tunes and I think they sound pretty good, but you can judge for yourself.

I like their combination of Flute and small pipes, also.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Here's a comparison of Wash's 2-drone and 3-drone shuttle pipes:

Be aware that there's a difference between the Walsh "shuttlepipes" and the Walsh "smallpipes".

I much prefer the smallpipes, which have great-sounding drones in the traditional setup: three separate drones in a common stock.

These project the tone out to the side which IMHO makes for a nicer blend with the chanter.

The Walsh shuttlepipes, in effect, have all the drones buzzing in your lap, too loud and buzzy to balance with the chanter IMHO.
