Seeing this video just made my day. It's the only youtube video and the longest audio clip I've ever heard of this instrument which I have to acquire someday as I have a family connection to this area of Sicily. It's the zampogna di Monreale, Sicily. It is one of the rarest forms of Italian bagpipe still played and as you can hear it has a minor third. I'm totally mesmorised and I love the guy singing as well.

Re: YouTube NON-UILLEANN bagpipes
According to the newscast, this is the first ever and only female player of the Sicilian Zampogna. Says she studies at the conservatory and plays the clarinet. Other than this girl I only know of one other girl that plays the zampogna, my friend Marco's teenage daughter. They live in Switzerland. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRCN5sKo9dI&feature=grec

Cool broadcast. Nice to see the tradition expanding to the fairer sex.
That was a really cool guitar the guy was playing. Are those common in southern Italy? Hurdy Guitar?

I've never seen a guitar like that. It looks like a home made style classical guitar but with a fretless neck. There are a lot of odd hand made lute type instruments found throughout southern Italy. I left a comment asking what kind of guitar it is, who knows if I'll get a response.

Re: YouTube NON-UILLEANN bagpipes
Thanks for posting that video here Charlie. I met Santo Trunzo (the guy playing the pipe) a few weeks ago when I was in Southern Calabria and was able to pick up a pipe from the same maker that Santo is playing. I made some nice videos of him playing as well which I will post eventually. I have reeded my pipe up with cane that the pipe maker gave me. Fortunately he gave me a big stack of cane so I was able to make lots of mistakes before getting a set of reeds that works well. Basically now I'm working on teaching myself the staccato rhythm that the left hand chanter plays. Santo is such an amazing piper. He is one of just a few people who play this type of "bass surdulina." But there is sort of a revival going on with the instrument. I know a bunch of guys who are picking up these pipes from the same pipe maker and wanting to learn.
