Made a subreddit for bouzouki/OM/mandocello accompanists

Post by Thomaston »

Attention Reddit users!

I realized that Reddit doesn’t have a subreddit dedicated to accompaniment on 8-10 string bouzouki, guitar-bodied bouzouki, octave mandolin, mandocello, etc. for traditional Irish music and the related genres within the “Celtic” umbrella. So I made one (actually there is a bouzouki subreddit, but it’s nothing but one user posting links to youtube).

If something like this interests you feel free to join me over at https://www.reddit.com/r/CBOM/

I envision this as a place to discuss accompaniment styles, tips, chords for alternate tunings, eye candy photos, videos, music theory as it applies to these genres, along with whatever else fits that sparks constructive discussions. And even though this is geared toward mandolin-family instruments, I won’t prohibit discussions of drop D and DADGAD guitar accompaniment (and any other guitar tunings I’m not aware of).

Also I want to stress that I don’t mean for this to be a replacement for this forum, but to be fair there’s not a lot of this type of discussions going on here, considering this site is geared more towards whistle and flute.

Hope to see some of you there!
