I've got a mandolin and guitar round here, but this my only stringed instrument that gets constant play time
I saw your name on this thread, and I had a sneaking suspicion that you were going to post a picture of the pianny
I'm still green with envy....

Wow, that's a nice one. I like the ornamentation, very tasteful - it is not as overdone as on many other banjos I saw so far. Good that you kept it!

This is my bowed psaltery. She was built by Eric Meier of Phantasy Psalteries. His work is fantastic and my psaltery has a beautiful sound. I am addicted.

You aren"t the only one admiring that quarter-sawn oak A&C chair.
The chair (a rocker) came from an antique store on Howard St. in Baltimore. (The fiddle, incidentally, from Holzapfel's Violin shop--no longer extant--on Fayette St. in Baltimore) As I recall, re the chair--Jeff had to have its little arts&crafts self. It was in not-so-good condition, and took some gluing and clamping to be the solid rocker it is today.

Hey Trout!
Thanks for the compliment, love my mandos! That one, in particular, is my baby; you should hear the resonance, unbelievable!
Cheers,
k.

That's real pretty. Looks like it was inspired by the Portuguese guitar and mandolin. It has the same round body and a similar head ornament.

I'm mystified. How come the dowel (on this banjo its square, not round) made of bird's eye maple, but the neck is unfigured (albeit nicely quarter-sawn) maple? I assume that the dowel must be mortised into the base of the neck under the fretboard.

I can't imagine the resonance on that thing being sublime.
