weber octave mando

Post by jim stone »

Does anybody know where you buy one? How much? I'm interested in an A 5 body. Also good alternatives. Been searching but can't find much. Thanks

A note to say I found a used weber A body octave mandolin on Reverb (from Parrish Music in Wisconsin). It's functional but it may need to be refretted in the future. Contacted Weber and they will do it at a reasonable price. It's about half of what a new one would cost, so I bought it. Weber says the demand since COVID arrived has been for guitars and mandolins. They will return to making octave mandolins in 2024.

Had a Gallatin before. Beautiful instruments with a real finesse. Unfortunately it was a narrow 1 1/4 neck and had to let it go.

is your best bet until Weber resume manufacture. They have gone up significantly in cost. There isnt' anything quite like the sound of these other than Weber mandocellos lol.
