It's doofus thing, particularly when it's on a muscle* dog.

And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

This puppy looks to be part chow, and I'm sure she enjoys chow. Of course if she's a "protection" dog maybe it should be "Luciano."

I'd go with a hooded jacket myself, but if ya want everybody to know she's a girl get her some barrettes.

"For Us."

She looks like a good addition to your clan.

PS Anything but "Good Dog!" Yelled, incessantly, in baby-talk, every time anything remotely pleasing is done, by your new friend.

PPS Oops. That was probably for the defunct Proctology Forum.

Call her wucky or ducky, she is a retriever mix after all.

Some of those sound good. Keep 'em coming. We're still thinking.

Regarding the bandanas, they're staying. It's the international symbol that a dog is fun/safe. She has quite the hand-me-down collection from our previous dog. She has them in all patterns and styles. My Mom finds the strangest patterns. This started because our last dog was a mixed dalmatian. I had a very hard time finding her on a partially snowy road, so we put a red bandana on her. Lucky blends right in to fallen leaves during Aumumn. Many of the bandanas are quite girlie, so why folks keep thinking she's a boy dog is beyond us.

I don't understand the concern about whether its a boy's name or a girl's name, or why it makes a difference what people think she is.

A fellow reprobate from college who frequented the samed bar I did had a girl dog named "Russell." (Russell was also a bandana dog.) People would ask him "But she's a girl dog. Why did you name a girl dog 'Russell'?" His reply was always "Because I always wanted a dog named 'Russell' and besides, the dog doesn't care."

It is probably significant that I have no idea what this fellow's name was, but I do remember Russell.

We've still not completely finalized on a name yet but we're most certain we'd prefer to not have a dog with gender identity issues, although we'd love her just the same if this is the road she chooses. My wife really loved "Danger" but shouting "Danger" is not too cool and "Danger" didn't have a nice alliteration with "Lucky". Someone suggested "Isabella". Lucky Isabella flows nice.

Lucky's last name is the same as our last name. Thanks for asking.

I'm so sorry but Isabella is actually spelt Izabela. People have been making this mistake for centuries, it is my task to bring this debacle to an end. BTW is she right or south pawed?
