Bravo. This is the kind of story you have to hang onto these days.

I'm not 100% sure on the rules of Baseball but I get the story.

Bravo indeed.

Sometimes the ladies' version of sports has a whole other layer to it. Well done indeed.

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

Yes. Sure can't see that happening in the MLB. These kids understand the game better than the pros.

Some friends of ours tell a story about asking their 10-year-old if he wanted to play baseball for a second summer. He had done pretty well the first summer and his parents got REALLY into it. "Nah," he says, "this summer I think I'd just rather play with my friends"

Several years ago, a player was 1 point from setting the all-time basketball scoring record at UConn when she went down with a season-ending injury. She could walk, but not well. They worked out a deal in which she was able to get a layup off the opening tip, they called a timeout, subbed, and gave the other team a layup.

That irritated the hell out of sports purists. But I don't think you have to leave your humanity behind just because you're an athlete. (Actually it was okay with all the athletes, just not some fans.)

Dale, what a wonderful story, I read it twice, I liked it so much.
Thanks!
Every time I turn around, I wonder where I've been.
Time to stop turning round, I guess.

Now that's true Sportsmanship. Too bad it's so rare these days.

Why do people use aluminum to put beer in it, if you can make whistles out of it?

Last night I was watching a program about the traffic police and they were chasing a stolen car through a neighbourhood in Yorkshire. The police car broke down and was really struggling to catch up to the other car. Eventually they tracked it down to a quiet street where some kids were playing on bicycles, but the car was empty.

The kids approached the cops and asked them if they were looking for two people who just got out of that car. Being cagey, as kids are prone to unhelpfullness normally, the cops simply said maybe and asked what the kids knew about it. They pointed out a couple further down the street who were walking calmly away from the scene arm in arm and said they'd just legged it out of the car.

The cops arrested the couple who were found guilty of stealing the car and burgling houses in the area.

As we watched this we couldn't help thinking how surprised we were at the kids. Normally on these programs you only ever see kids being awkward little sods to the police and emergency services, you NEVER see them doing what I like to think most of us would have done when we were kids and help out the cops if we could. It was refreshing to see.

I am particularly impressed they knew the correct carry for that injury. Good job! :D
