The first thing that always strikes me about Tae Bo practitioners is their incredible humility.

He get's it from me... he's one seriously good juggler!
I used to be a card carrying member if the IJF and went to one of their conventions. It was really exciting and a lot of fun.
I'd strongly recommend juggling for anyone who wants a really satisfying skill to learn. You can even combine it with (sort of) whistle playing: I can play tunes with a tabor pipe with one hand and juggle two balls with the other. Very simple tunes...

I could never get one juggling ball going, let alone two.

And it's good for your brain too:

""Juggling good for the brain, study shows

Thursday, January 22, 2004 Posted: 10:33 AM EST (1533 GMT)

from www.cnn.com

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- It's a great party trick and useful for circus performers but scientists said this week that learning to juggle can cause changes in areas of the adult brain.

Mastering the skill increases the amount of grey matter in areas of the brain that process and store visual information, proving what was not thought possible -- that new stimuli can alter the brain's structure.

A comparison of brain-imaging scans of non-jugglers and other volunteers before they learned to juggle and three months later, revealed an increase in grey matter in certain areas of the newly trained jugglers' brains.

"Our results challenge our view of the human central nervous system. Human brains probably must be viewed as dynamic, changing with development and normal learning," said Arne May, of the University of Regensburg in Germany, who headed the research team.

Grey matter refers to parts of the brain and spinal cord that are
comprised of the tightly packed nuclei of nerve cells. In the brain it is mainly found in the outer layers of the cerebrum which is responsible for advanced mental functions.

In a report in the science journal Nature, May and his colleagues said brain scans done three months after the new jugglers had stopped juggling showed the increase in grey matter had been reduced.

"I believe the challenge we face is...to be able to adapt and
modulate this knowledge into disease management," May added in an e-mail interview.""

Paul, have you seen any of the WJF competitions on ESPN? It's a newer organization than the IJA, with a somewhat different focus. I saw a part of the 2005 competition, and I was shocked how much the skill level among jugglers has improved in the last 5-10 years - seems like everyone is able to juggle 7 clubs and 10 balls now :boggle: and they're doing absolutely outrageous tricks with lower numbers. These "Kids" are two of the top in the world right now - that's 11, yes 11 clubs they are passing at the end!!!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wNeWiqY ... ed&search=

That video was from a few years ago, here's Vovo now, juggling solo. There are some really great shots from above in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEb3YknGUks

However, Anthony Gatto is still the reigning king: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfL7fZZZOHU

Gatto is amazing. Last time I saw him was at that IJF convention and he was, like, 8years old and astounding even then. I'm really glad to see him again.

Ugh, "Contact Juggling" isn't even juggling. No offense, but that stuff bores me to tears. I can undestand why folks enjoy watching it though, it's just not for me.

Yeah, I remember him as a kid too, whipping five club backcrosses when there were very adult professional performers who could to that. It's good to see that he's still at it, doing well (financially) as a performer, and he still seems to be driven and enjoying it.
