Men Power
I read in this morning's news that researchers in Portland, Oregon have discovered that xanthohumol, found in the hops used for making beer, can successfully turn off prostate cancer. This fits suitably with previous discoveries that lycopene, found in whole-tomato products such as pizza sauce, can also save men from prostate cancer.
As you probably know, its not a question of IF a man will get prostate cancer, but WHEN. So here's the challenge for you, men: it will take the daily consumption of 17 beers and 4 large pizzas to get enough of these life saving ingredients.
Are you up for it? Are you with me? Shall we put an end to prostate cancer once and for all?
Stand up (if you can) and be counted. Its beer and pizza for me, and no surprise that I have a natural affinity for these substances. If anyone wants proof that there is a God, surely this must be it!

Tom read about this and stated he needed to go get another case or two of beer to be "healthy".

I heard about this yesterday. A brewer in Germany is already mixing up a batch with a lot more of the pertinent ingredient. As an ale drinker, my question is, which normal variety has the most anyway? My guess is IPA, because it tastes so hoppy, but I don't know scientific-like.
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

Let's face it, on 17 beers and pasta you will spend most of your time running to the little boys' room. You need something substantial like pizza to improve retention for a more dignified exit from the room.JES wrote:What about pasta made with halapeno peppers and whole wheat?

That's not all its known for turning off.djm wrote:I read in this morning's news that researchers in Portland, Oregon have discovered that xanthohumol, found in the hops used for making beer, can successfully turn off prostate cancer.
Herbalists have long used hops as a neuroreproductive sedative.
If the Mrs. doesn't mind something like that happening, go ahead and make it your cup of tea literally.

IPA would be a good choice -- of course, you have access to fresh Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, which is the hoppiest brew around. We have Tupper's Hop Pocket here, which is also pretty good. The Weekenders wrote:I heard about this yesterday. I saw Art Donovan on the Tonight Show years ago. He's a hall-of-fame American football player who's also well-known for his appetite. There's a place in Baltimore that has a 48" pizza named after him. So Jay asks him whether he's ever thought about going on a diet, is he worried what all that beer and pizza is dooing to him. He said, "Gimme all the salami, some good bread, a few cases of beer and a bunch of pizzas, sit me down under a tree and let me eat and drink till I explode. I'll die happy."
