Hail Pope Gonzo....

..Who has shot past the 1K mark and is rapidly forging ahead.

I find it amazing that he has only just passed 1K...he seems to have been here forever.

One of the most witty members of our little club, his posts can be guaranteed to deflate the pompous and bring matters back down to a reasonable level whenever needed.

Keep them coming your Holiness

Slan,
D.
And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.

I draw the line at kissing his ring. Who knows where he's been scratching...

Or whom, for that matter.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

What a delightful surprise to find this! And thank you all for your kind words. I really had no idea I was at or even near a milestone post. Counting back, I see that number 1000 was this precocious soupcon o' doggerel --
I 'member those times by the bayou we walked,
You and me and your dog Buttercup.
But mostly I 'member the time he jumped in
And a gator done swallered him up.
And now I'd like to thank all the people who made this possible, to wit:

dubhlinn for noticing.
Bloomfield for starting the poetry thread.
Walden for the wonderful Katy avatar that I'd like to see again.
Dale for providing this most excellent slate upon which we all scribble.
cskinner, who sets the editing bar high and mtivating me to profread and catch the typo's, punctuation errors and missspelings.
Lambchop for being INTJ.
Fiddler for her help in getting a thread locked.
And all the rest of you, doggonnit, there's just too many of you to mention without getting all weepy-eyed and maudlin, and that's just so un-gonzo.
But special thanks to Cranberry for his support in the recent conclave and for whom I keep my quill eternally sharpened.

And in closing, let us all bow our heads for a special papal prayer --

Non amo te, Sabidi, nec possum dicere quare:
hoc tantum possum dicere, non amo te.

Amen

"Whom knows where he's been scratching"?! I don't think that's quite right...
