In your face, gentlemen!

Women 'sense qualities in a man'
Women are fine tuned subconsciously to detect the qualities they are looking for in a man - just by looking at his face, US research suggests.
Women can spot subtle signs of interest in children in a man's face, and accurately assess his level of the sex hormone testosterone, it claims.

Child-friendly men were rated as good long-term bets, masculine men as ideal for a more short-term fling.

Details feature in Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences.

Evolution has made them very good at using every piece of information at their disposal when making decisions about mating and relationships
Dr Dario Maestripieri

The study was carried out by researchers at the University of Chicago and the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Researcher Dr Dario Maestripieri said: "Our results show that women are surprisingly accurate in judging a man's masculinity and his interest in infants by looking at his face.

"Our results also show that women value masculinity as a desirable trait for short-term relationships and interest in infants as a desirable trait for more stable long-term relationships."

Well, I'll be.... All this time, I was supposed to have been looking at their faces? The cause of so many difficulties... illuminated at last by the clear, rational light of Applied Science.

My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the learned gentlemen of the Royal Society.

Interesting,

Last time I saw a woman looking at my face was down in the poetry section of the local Library.
At the time I was checking out all the new editions of Catherine Jennings, a more or less local girl.
An inspired poet, very much of the Catholic faith, but her sense of the moment more than made up for that...( No offence intended to those of a Catholic disposition).
So anyway...
I'm stood there, shaking my head in wonderment, when this very pretty woman asks me if I'm familiar with the work of Catherine Jennings.
"Very much so ", sez I.

"Are You Catholic?" sez she.

"No" sez I.

She shook her head, in what I perceived to be disappointment.

"Why is that every guy I meet here is Gay" she sez.

Before I could get my breath back she was gone..stormed out in a mood.

Read Men's faces my Dublin ass....

Slan,
D.

women are masterful at the ultra-quick once-over when they think you aren't looking. Took me years to get fine-tuned enough to spot it. It makes me laugh.

I don't know; I may be going out on a limb here.

But looking at JES's avatar, I am going to hazard a guess that he's not a good long-term bet. In fact, it doesn't even look like he's going to make it through the short-term. Maybe it's the sunken eyes or the extremely pale complexion... :P

Hey dub, if you're ever in Montana, let me know when you're going to be in the library. Not all women can read clearly... :)

And most men are not (masterful that is). And catching them makes me laugh too.
