Competition CLOSED - Emmline is the Winner
During the most recent Swindon-London Bipolar Chiff & Fipple Secret Meeting for the purposes of plotting and music, Gary Kelly, Avanutria, Lady Ceres and I gathered together a number of instruments shown above.
We later discovered a smaller number of instruments that we'd missed.
The first person to correctly guess how may instruments are in the picture, and name them all (type, not necessarily make and key, unless you want to show off), wins a tasty little musical instrument.
Competition Rules:
1) For the purposes of this competition only, banjos and bodhrans count as musical instruments.
2) First guess only per Chiffer will be accepted.
3) My decision is final, so there.
4) This competiton is for fun only. No bad language, political posturing, or moaning minnies will be tolerated.
5) All the instruments we counted are visible in the picture - i.e. we didn't hide any behind the sofa.
6) The competition will close when I'm bored of it, or if someone correctly guesses the right number, whichever comes first.
7) Yes, I know that radiator is a disgrace. I've been busy with other things.
If you can put up with all that shenannigins, go ahead and have a guess, what have you got to lose apart from your dignity?
9) Oh, the competition isn't open to anyone who was present when the photo was taken.

Not the Slude-dood's liquorice whistle??!!! If so, I don't want it. It's been chewed at one end already.Martin Milner wrote:The first person to correctly guess how may instruments are in the picture..... wins a tasty little musical instrument.

I see:
5 fiddles
3 mandolins (1 oval hole, one f hole, one oval back)
1 Uillean pipes
5 flutes, one of which is a Bb?
4 guitars (1 classical, one steel accoustic, one travel guitar and one electric)
2 banjos (one 5-string, one “tenor”)
4 concertinas
1 button box
2 bodhrans
And about 21 whistles
totaling 48, more or less

- Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

One of the fiddles is a viola.

- Tell us something.: A long time chatty Chiffer but have been absent for almost two decades. Returned in 2022 and still recognize some names! I also play anglo concertina now.

It must be cause of these 54 yr old eyes. On another look I, too, see some that I missed. At least, former guitar player that I am, I think I spied all the stringed instruments. Is there a "runner up" prize?Martin Milner wrote:Pretty good, but no cigar!
(the prize is NOT a cigar, btw)
You need to count those whistles carefully, and there's a few items you missed altogether.
Thanks for opening the bidding!

- Tell us something.: I've picked up the tinwhistle again after several years, and have recently purchased a Chieftain v5 from Kerry Whistles that I cannot wait to get (why can't we beam stuff yet, come on Captain Kirk, get me my Low D!)
