... well, the Stanley Cup, at least. My totally objective prediction is that Tampa Bay is going to get it's arse kicked, in it's own city!.
GO CALGARY GO!!!!!!

When does football season start? CFL will do nicely - even if I can't get many games down here.
Hockey's like soccer, a game of incomprehensible rules played by people who don't even seem to obey what rules there are. And professional hockey teams in hot places like LA, Tampa and Phoenix are somehow unnatural - like a two-headed calf or something.

We knew that the sleeping giant would one day awake. I'd better head to the old fallout shelter, eh?Azalin wrote:Canada is about to take over the world!

Don't get your hopes up. This is a multi-stage plan, it begins with a Calgary win, this time tomorrow Alan Thicke will be at your door to personally demand your surrender. The Weekenders wrote:Oh, hockey...Thank goodness. I was about to join the Alan Thicke fanclub and be even more boring than I am. Gotta watch those subject headers!
Hockey is the most exciting, most skill-demanding and I'd say easiest to understand, of all the team sports. We gave you basketball (just didn't measure up to hockey) and you can keep baseball (we reserve that right to use it for insomniacs). I agree though, it is weird to see a Stanley Cup Final being played in Florida....

If there is one thing I truly miss about living in Detroit (besides my family), it's CBC broadcasts of "Hockey Night In Canada". Ron MacLean and Don Cherry made me a hockey fan for life.
GO FLAMES! Beat Tampa!
I only wish it was an all Original Six finals.
Here's one for you hockey nuts:
What's a "Gordie Howe Hat Trick"?

They wouldn't try and impose metrics on us would they? Canadian Football doesn't have a 50 metre line, or nothing, right? I mean, I just don't know about Canada... give 'em 2.54 cm and they take 1.609344 km!Pat Cannady wrote:Canada taking over the world? Worse things could happen, believe me.

Metrics? eh. Metrics aren't that hard to grasp, although I admit I need practice with them. I do understand the difference between a pint and half litre entirely, though
Still no takers on the Gordie Howe Hat Trick question?
Awright.
It consists of:
1) A goal.
2) An assist - you make a pass that contributes to a scoring play.
3) A victorious fight against the opposition's best goon.
That's a Gordie Howe Hat Trick.
