Spencer Nitchie has recently died. Spencer and his brother and business partner Don have published the Banjo Newsletter since the early 1990´s, continuing the work of their father, Hub Nitchie, who founded the Banjo Newsletter in 1971. Don Nitchie has announced the suspension of the publication after the September issue.
I remember anxiously awaiting my next issue in the early Seventies. In particular, Hub would have hilarious editorials, and marvelous tab transcriptions of John Hartford´s tunes with his group The Steam Powered Aeroplane.
Side note, Hartford´s group name lead me to the quirky fact that someone took a Besler Steam Automobile powerplant and used it to power a small plane.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw6NFmcnW-8
