I think the record shows that STDs among the enlisted were a problem not confined merely to the Scots.

No idea. See above, and make the necessary substitutions.

That's really an awful book title, isn't it.

Perhaps an excess of Spotted Dick?

Drummers famously get the short end of the stick when it comes to pipe band jokes. Putting aside for the moment the temptation to indulge in louche badinage (speaking for myself, I've run out of material), could it be that Master Richard's drumming was simply so bad that even pipers couldn't tolerate him, and he was shown the door - hence the title? Under the pictured lad's brave composure, he also betrays being unsure of his future, which works. Boring, I know, but 'tis oleorezinator brought up the pipe bands himself - TWICE - so I confess to an itch I can't scratch, and I struggle for illumination. Perhaps we in the peanut gallery are somehow missing the drift...?

But I like the snickering better...

We-l-l. . .
We already know Ole´ has a wicked sense of humor.
My first essay at a search led me to a page of Pinterest book titles for children´s books with questionable titles, among which was Wet Beavers looking for Wood. The reddit user posting this one was from her thread ´Things that make me giggle´.
On a more serious note: Drummer Dick´s Discharge has a listing on Google Books.

Fair enough but I have to admit that
I’ve always been afraid of them,
They like to hit things with sticks.......

The spine of this book says, "Know What to Eat - Babies".

When I saw it in the local library, my first thought was, "Maybe it depends on how they're cooked." I didn't have the stomach to look inside.

Khun Poo sounds not so much admirable as inspirational. She's an amazing example of making a triumph out of disaster. Thanks for flagging her up.

Drummer Dick was most likely from the Grenadiers.
As the song states.

Its the drip, drip, drip
Of the septic dicks
Of the British Grenadiers

Sung to the tune of The British Grenadiers.
