Unfair distribution of tune names.

Due to pandemic tedium I was searching for tunes on The Session when I thought how unfair the distribution of tune names was. Beggars get 2 pages of tunes, sailors 4 whole pages! Soldiers get 2 pages, a whole page of thieves. 2 pages of doctors but nothing for vets, you would think that someone would have written The Vet's Fancy. Nothing for Chiropodist either A Trip to The Chiropodist would make a fine hop jig. The building trade does particularly badly, Bricklayers get a hornpipe and that's about it, no one ever starts the Scaffolders Reel. The legal profession does poorly, no lawyers and only one judge.
Animals get the same uneven treatment, 6 pages of dogs and a mighty 19 pages of cats but not an elephant to be seen. Surely The Elephant in the Room would make a great tune... hamsters do better with 2 tunes even crocodiles get a tune. Eagles get a page to themselves as do wrens but nothing for the humble tit. Wagtails get a few tunes but not even a lament for a starling.

What about pies? Will no one remember the pies?

Breandán Breathnach dealt with those things, slightly tongue in cheek, in 1981, in 'The nomenclature of Irish dance music'/ If that is of any interest.

Egad that sounds a riveting read... I have the tune books I suppose I should do a spreadsheet of the trades and animals that need a tune.

Two pies, but outdone by a page of puddings. It's the tarts, buns and crumpets that lose out.

I'd not thought of culinary items... cooks do well of course, but not as well as butlers. 2 whole pages of breakfasts, boiled and otherwise, only a few dinners and not a single supper. Sausage, egg and bacon all get tunes so breakfast is a winner.
