Things to do while sequestering

Post by Nanohedron »

Totally over making sourdough bread? Finished your online degree? Crocheting not filling that void? Take heart; there's more out there to learn, like:

How to whistle through your nose.

Any others? We're getting desperate here, folks.

(This is not going where I intended.) ... Ahem:

No, no, no, no, NO. Forget "whistle". Forget "nose". Remember COVID, go watch the vid (have you even, yet? tsk), and read the deeper meaning of being so forlorn that we'll even consider sticking our fingers up our noses to get a new bodily noise, just so we can forget, for a moment, our existential predicament. After all, other apes would do as much.

The italicized bit tells you. So: Entertain me. Distract me. Make me want to stick my finger up my nose. Intrigue me with origami dioramas. Hypnotize me with kale. But make it something I can escape reality with, and do at home with the curtains drawn to hide my shame, if need be. That reminds me: It can't be naughty.

There. Worn, but still serviceable.

Putting all your clocks back an hour probably shouldn't count.

Well, I do have well oiled whistles with no where to go but home.

I did start rearranging furniture but that effort ended quickly. Fortunately I live close to Long Island Sound and spend quiet time watching the tide ebb and flow... in and out.

Hi everyone! This is my first post. :) I have a related but different problem. Because I’m sequestering and dearly missing all the Toronto sessions, I would love to be playing all the time and learning new tunes. Problem is, my spouse is also home and our condo is small. I can sometimes play if she goes out to meet a friend in a park but this isn’t that regular of an occurrence. Anyone have a similar situation? Where to go to play? I’m contemplating renting time in a jam space. Seems silly to rent a rehearsal studio across town to squawk on the flute by myself yet here we are. Hope everyone is keeping happy and safe!

That doesn't help to pass the time at all unless it takes you longer than an hour.

Might add that I'm disappointed in what the guy in the video you linked considers whistling and think he's really just blowing his nose noisily!
And we in dreams behold the Hebrides.

You don't practice at home, then? But I get that.

When I had my fill of big sessions, what I used to do on a regular basis was have house sessions with one other person, less often two. Very intimate, and room to fumble happily. If I were doing that now, it would be at a sensible spatial remove instead of huddled at the table, but I think it would be worth it all the same. Maybe that's doable? At least you wouldn't be playing alone, and you could think of it as serenading the S.O. :)

Does he do a video on how to put your tongue in your cheek and wind up 15,297 (and counting) people with nothing better to do than watch?
