If anything, they probably simply were given a time to heal and gain a bit of peace before passing on. They were, after all, mortal, and it's quite clearly stated in several places (especially throughout the Silmarillion) that the final fate of the souls of mortals is not the same as that of the Elves, though nobody knows what Illuvitar (the Creator of Middle-Earth) had in mind for them, not even the Valar.

Them gaining immortality in the Undying Lands wouldn't make sense at all in the context of Tolkien's world, just wouldn't follow the rules of it at all.
Yep. I think this summarizes it nicely, in every point.

According to the place from which I lifted this picture, they are actually blacksmith's pincers, apparently used for grabbing on to hot stuff while you whang on same with a whacking huge hammer.

These heavy-duty butt pliers are for pulling out the industrial-sized needles one finds in Chamber of Commerce members, fundamentalists and Tolkien pedants. For most work, such as de-needlizing women, young boys and the occasional Episcopalian, a less robust tool is adequate --

...and just to mention - I feel I must - in case there's any confusion, needle removal is not about unfortunate random sitting accidents, but a metaphor for the tightness and grip of one's...um...oh, never mind.

I can only offer in my defense that I have never actually read the damn thing, and the only place I have seen it in print is in D&D, where it it is spelled 'mithral.'

The first hundred or so pages are a killer, and I've always given up and switched to something more entertaining, like "The Greatest Works of Warren G. Harding" or "The Complete History of German Philosophy."
You did it again. STOP IT.

But wasn't their status as ringbearers cause for exception to the rules?

If the Tol Eressëa scenario is the case then I agree that peace/healing/death is probably their fate.

The Teleri had harbor for passage to Tol Eressëa in Alqualondë but after that sunk did they set up The Grey Havens or was that just a Sindarin harbor?

This thread is beyond strange.....

I should have remembered that you are infallable Pope Gonzo. (but you've gotta admit, they do look like hoof nippers-except that yes, the handles are a bit short, didn't notice that)
