I have a different slant on the recorder and sexiness...
I met my wife of nearly 10 years by selling her a bass recorder on eBay. She lived in Michigan and I lived in upstate NY at the time. After the sale we communicated by instant messaging, email and later by phone. It soon became obvious that we had to meet face to face. Charlene flew to Albany and we drove up to Lake Placid for an astounding weekend. Part of that weekend's wonderfulness was when we played recorder together for the first time. I know, I know, a really weird thing to do on a mad passionate weekend. But it was truly astounding. We played like we had played together for years-- synchronized breathing, baroque ornamentation perfectly in sync, and phrasing totally together. As much as the more physical aspects of the weekend, and maybe more, that recorder playing made us both realize we were made for each other. Some 13 years later, we've had no cause to think otherwise.

I don't think that you would have enjoyed Ben as much,

even if he didn't have recorder issues :D

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

I think that's an improper embouchure.

Pete Townshend had some subtle thoughts on this.

Mama's got a squeeze box etc.
I've been told that song is not about an actual accordion.... puzzling, that....

And yet nothing about concertina?

Suddenly, I remember a while ago a new whistler posted
a video of her progress. She had long, elegant fingers.
Pianist's fingers. They were emphasized by the whistle's
length and narrowness. I found the overall effect Elvin,
elegant, romantic in a Victorian way. Had she been
playing flute I feel it would not have stuck in my mind as
long as it has. The effect would be more likened to
waving fleshy sticks around in the air. But that's just me.

Don't YOU go waving no fleshy sticks in the air. It ends badly.

And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')
