I have a different slant on the recorder and sexiness...benhall.1 wrote: It also struck me that recorder is, for some reason, a complete turn-off, with whistle somewhere in between. I have no idea why this is.
I met my wife of nearly 10 years by selling her a bass recorder on eBay. She lived in Michigan and I lived in upstate NY at the time. After the sale we communicated by instant messaging, email and later by phone. It soon became obvious that we had to meet face to face. Charlene flew to Albany and we drove up to Lake Placid for an astounding weekend. Part of that weekend's wonderfulness was when we played recorder together for the first time. I know, I know, a really weird thing to do on a mad passionate weekend. But it was truly astounding. We played like we had played together for years-- synchronized breathing, baroque ornamentation perfectly in sync, and phrasing totally together. As much as the more physical aspects of the weekend, and maybe more, that recorder playing made us both realize we were made for each other. Some 13 years later, we've had no cause to think otherwise.
