Lord of the Flies
Village of the Damned
Planet of the apes

Original was better, the remake made more money.

Are you serious? Robert Mitchum was brilliant in the original, genuinely menacing, and not once did he have to resort to the cheap 'techniques' of foul language, blood, gore and violence that Scorcese stooped to. Mitchum was the DB's in the original, De Niro little more than a caricature.
And you could clearly see what was going on at the end of the original, which was shot day-for-night; the remake was reminiscent of Alien, so dark you couldn't see what was going.
Not to mention the ridiculous idea of hanging on to the bottom of an SUV while going down the highway. ...
Don't get me wrong. I prefer the original, but the remake worked for me in a different way. I'm a big Scorsese and De Niro fan, so I'm biased, but in my life there's plenty of room for both versions.
And whether the blood be highland, lowland or no.
And whether the skin be black or white as the snow.
Of kith and of kin we are one, be it right, be it wrong.
As long as our hearts beat true to the lilt of a song.

No -- The ultimate remake sacrilege would be Citizen Kane, starring Tom Cruise as Charles Foster Kane and Katie Holmes as the talentless lounge singer who became Kane's second wife. Toby McGuire will play the reporter seeking out the secret of Rosebud, and Mark Wahlberg will play Joseph Cotton's role of Jedediah Leland, since Tom Hanks and Dustin Hoffman will have nothing to do with it.
:o well, I'd certainly put that on a level with Sunset Boulevard.

Wonder what Rosebud would be in the remake?

Sounds a little like "The last remake of Beau Geste" with Marty Feldman, Michael York, Ann-Margaret et al.
