i like watching little league baseball. anything can happen in one of those games. it's even possible to score a touchdown.

It's a game grown men playing indoors in their pajamas, on plastic 'grass', under lights, where even the dirt is especially imported from out of state (some place in the carolinas IIRC, is the source of regulation major league dirt) by men who biceps are unnaturally large and their testicles unnaturally small, both with a chemical assist.

Plenty more wrong than spitting.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Some Red Sox-Yankees series bear a strange resemblance to hockey. ;)

What's wrong with it?

Why isn't it still just rounders? Same as American football... Why not just play rugby?

Did you change any of the soccer rules yet?

I wonder what changes the Americans would make to Dwile Flonking if they imported that noble sport. :)

I'm a flute player, which means I'm often seen in public with fluids dripping from my mouth. In my case, there's an expensive black wooden tube conducting the drip to a point beyond my own personal space before dropping it to the ground, but other than that I might as well be spitting. So baseball players spitting doesn't bother me. Now, them getting paid big bucks to spit when I don't, that bothers me. Also, they get more chicks than I do, even though they spit. Probably because they're getting those big bucks, eh?

Wow, I hadn't ever heard of that. It seems silly.
I can't find a mention of special dirt in the official rules

Do you have some source to back that up so I can have a good laugh? It just seems like something completely off the wall crazy. Granted, I don't know anything about MLB baseball, since I don't watch sports on TV, but that just sounds ridiculous.

Spitting? That's baby food. What I wanna see is your occasional "farmer blow". A nice, big honkin' one.

What's wrong with baseball is that I didn't watch hardly any games this year, and when I did, in the last week or so, they were badly lopsided. In the ALCS, I saw a game where the losing team dropped TWO pop-flys in ONE GAME, then a guy got waved on then stopped at third base in a clutch situation. I mean, it was like GD'ed LITTLE LEAGUE!!!! And the Series, well, it was just pathetic after halfway through the third game. Crikey. And I live in an area where both of the local pro football teams are just suckin' bad this year AND the local Cinderella team (Cal) is falling faster than the dollar. Watching sports is shall we say, no longer an option, around here.
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

I was reminded of this - George Carlin's take on baseball and football.
