But "The Boss" found his own expression regardless of his misspent youth. Who else could have written "Blinded By the Light"?

Tom Petty is an obvious Dylan wannabe.

When I was very little and first learning from my father about music, we would listen to the local classic rock station and he'd quiz me as to the artist of each song that came on. There were multiple times when I'd mistake Tom Petty's voice for Dylan's.

Also, incidentally, I've always thought that in the song "Empty Spaces" (the one before "Young Lust" on the The Wall) Roger Waters sounds remarkably like Elmer Fudd.

I have long held the opinion that Roger Waters WAS Elmer Fudd.

I was young! And, if you listen very closely (and with your head slanted at just the right degree), they do sound vaguely similar... sometimes.

The only way to tell definitively is to have him say "What? A robot pest controller with an electronic brain?"

Aw, cut him a break, Dubh. I'm fairly certain he's not the only one wants to be Dylan. :D
I'll tell you straight. I never wanted Dylan's beard.

Some guys can be the greatest folk poets of their generation. Other guys can grow beards.

As for what Bruce Springsteen learnt from that 3 minute Chuck Berry song, I'm not sure. It sure wasn't the importance of a small tight backing band. It wasn't the importance of direct, unpretentious, lyrics either. Now, I wonder.
