Tell us something.: Just updating my profile after 16+ years of C&F membership. Sold most of my flutes, play the ones I still own and occasionally still enjoy coming here and read about flute related subjects.

In the past it was customary to open a thread to congratulate a member on hitting their 1/2/3/4...K post. This gave us all a chance to pay our respects to the member in question and say a few nice words about them. There are so many members nowaday that these landmark posts are commonplace and sometimes there can be three or four people hitting them at the same time. Many respected members have passed the mark without it being noticed and there are many who have been around for a very long time but have relatively low post counts. The practice has faded away of late.

I have come to the conclusion that the anniversary of joining the Board would be the perfect place for us to open a thread in which we could pay our respects to the member in question. This way, everybody gets treated equally and the frequent posters do not appear to be the most popular.

So let's keep our eyes open for anniversarys and forget about high post counts.

If you disagree with this idea, blame Flydood :P

Slan,
D. :D
What about those of us who were on chiffboard 3 or 4 different versions ago, and have no way of knowing our actual anniversary date? :)

Joined the Chiffboard in its Coolboard incarnation a year before that.
So that's 450 posts in 6 years...

I've just had my 6 year anniversary
and may be celebrating my 500th post in 6 months or so :P

One of the old timers eh?

How many here were on the old Coolboard? You should get a little blurb under your name.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

Good idea Dubh! But in the true spirit of Chiffly randomness, I propose we salute whomever we feel like whenever we feel like it.

Today I'm saluting...(spin the magic spinner...it's whirring...whirring...)
Spoo!, from Espoo, Finland. Cool name, don't ya think? We haven't heard from Spoo in a couple years, but what the heck.

And I salute glauber.

What can I say? I've always had a thing for Brazillian Presbyterian dogs.

What happened with the Taxi?

Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.

What time is it there?

I find it confusing to keep track of all the different time zones...

I would like to salute our Rod Stewart loving troll, Station. He just pops in every now and again and then disappears for a long time. Let's see if I can remember the invocation that summons him... Ah yes.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.
